Maintenance and guarantee of Duval Messien products – Removal of radioactive lightning rods

Installations provided by Duval Messien are guaranteed and may be subjected to contracts of maintenance adapted to customers requirements and done by its specialists.
The radioactive lightning rods have been commercialized between 1932 and 1986. The decree of October 11th 1983 applicable in January 1st 1987, prohibites the use of radioelements for lightning rods manufacture as well as their commercialization and importation.

Know how required by the law

The decree of January 15th 2008, imposes the removal and definitive care of radioactive lightning rods on some CIEP classified sites (risk for environment).

Mainly with a base of radium (RA226) or americium (AM241), radioactive lightning rods should be manipulated with caution : removal and recovery of these lightning rods is only done by competent companies with the authorization of safety nuclear authority (ASN).

ASN 2009 authorization

These require a know how and an essential expertise  both during the removal operation, than during the transport to the temporary storage place for the reconditionning.

This is materialized by the authorization given by ASN.

A rigorous follow with documents allows to follow the waste until its elimination.
