Technical characteristics

MDM20K ground tester is an autonomous and polyvalent product. It allows to measure the earthing system resistance, but also the ground resistivity, which will allow to implement in an optimal way the needs of the earthing sytems to be done. This tool is appropriated to measure the resistances of the lightning rods earthing systems, towers, buildings thanks to a large measuring range from 0 W to 20 kW with a resolution of 0,01W. A screen of 3 -1/2 digits will allow an easy and comfortable use.

The autonomy of MDM20K ground tester depends on an internal battery system. The refill of this last one is secured by the use of a microprocessor which adapts the charge current level to the battery for optimal battery life.

To avoid parasitic voltages problems in the ground, filter systems allow a reliable measure. In the case of important disruptions compared to internal generator, an audible signal sounds.

The measure of the ground resistance is done with the 3 earth rods method :

In this method a current with a frequency of 1470 Hz is injected in the ground by a integrated generator in the tool. By a voltage measure at a given place, it is then possible to determinate the earth resistance by a simple Ohm law.

The earth resistivity is done by Wenner method. This method consists in the driving of 4 in line and separated earth rods of a constant distance D. To obtain the ground resistivity it is necessary to apply the Wenner equation.
